Students are walked out along the sidewalk and released to
parent/guardian.

Procedures

Arrival and Dismissal
|
The bell rings at 8:25. Students
proceed to the side door to enter the school. At 2:15, students
are walked out to meet their parents/guardians at the curb.

Late
Arrival
|
Students are considered, "late" when they
arrive past the 8:30 late bell. When this happens, the
student and supervising adult should go to the office to secure a late
pass and let us know she/he is in the building. The pass is given to
the teacher.

|
Milk
Purchase
|
Snack milk costs, $.50 each. We ask
that the order be placed for the
whole week, usually on Mondays.
|
|
|
Bathroom
|
Our bathrooms are located outside
the room, on the first floor. Students may leave to the bathroom
by signing out on the front white board and taking a pass.
Generally, permission is not needed.

We use Scott Foresman, Reading
Street materials for our Core Reading program. Phonemic Awareness
is a primary focus. Letters and their sounds are taught in a prescribed
order: Mm, Tt, short Aa, Ss, Pp, Cc, short Ii, Bb, Nn, Rr, Dd,
Kk, Ff, short Oo, Hh, Ll, Consonant Blends, Gg,
short Ee, Ww, Jj, Xx, short Uu, Vv, Zz, Yy, Qu qu.

Sight
Word List
|

|
Children are introduced to word families,
color words, number words and sight words during the school year.
The list of sight words includes: I, am, the, little, to, a,
have, is, we, my, like, he, for, me, with, she, see, look, they, you,
of, are, that, do, one, two, three, four, five, here, go, from, yellow,
green, blue, what, said, was, where, come.
