Programs will be evaluated on the basis of whether they work. Schools will be expected to follow the State Curriculum Frameworks and the District Curriculum guidelines. Each school will not be restricted by the curriculum, but will need approval to change any district-wide curriculum requirements. Any changes in programs or pilot programs will need to be research based instructional strategies, and approved by the Superintendent's Office in consultation with the Curriculum Coordinator. The school will need to demonstrate that they have been implementing the current curriculum as outlined, the changes in time and instructional patterns that have been developed, and the research base that will demonstrate improved reading instruction for all students.
