The
New Hampshire School Administrators Association in coordination with The
American Association of School Administrators (AASA) has announced that
Raymond Yeagley is the New Hampshire Superintendent of the Year for 2000-2001.
Dr. Yeagley, who is Superintendent of Schools for the Rochester School
District (SAU #54), will receive a special award during the National Conference
on Education in Orlando, Florida in February.
Dr. Yeagley was selected for this honor by a panel of his peers and from a very distinguished group of nominees. According to fellow educators, Dr. Yeagley is very highly regarded by educators throughout New Hampshire and New England. In particular, he is known as a soft spoken educator who is a knowledgeable, creative and caring leader. Jennifer Pedrick attended school in the Rochester district with three of Raymond's children and is now pursuing a career as an educator. Jennifer says "Dr. Yeagley's support, both visibly and behind the scenes could always be counted on. The dedication he showed to his own children also allowed the other students to see how supportive and involved our administration was in education. Dr. Yeagley has been a role model throughout his tenure as superintendent...not that Dr. Yeagley is the sole reason I am currently pursuing my masters in education, but his enthusiasm, determination, and drive to be there for all of his students certainly helped...Rochester is truly lucky to have him." Mr. Charles DeVito of the Rochester School Board is quoted as saying "Dr. Yeagley has provided vision and leadership for the entire school department. He was instrumental in instituting a District Educational Improvement Plan and incorporating computer technology into all of our classrooms." In addition, he said "Dr. Yeagley has created an atmosphere of teamwork and has led his team to solving the problems the district has faced and in making the decisions needed to continually improve the quality of education offered in our schools." Raymond has been Superintendent of Schools in Rochester since 1988. He came to New Hampshire from the Alexander Ohio Local School District where he was Superintendent of Schools from 1981-1988 and High School Principal from 1980-1981 Raymond earned his Doctorate of Education in School Administration from Indiana University at Bloomington in 1981, his Masters in education also from Indiana University in 1979 and a Bachelors in Music from the University of Utah in 1973. In addition to his outstanding service to the Rochester community, Raymond has emerged as a regional and national leader. Raymond is currently the President of the New Hampshire School Administrators Association and has been a member of the Executive Board since 1994. He is a member of the National Forum on Education Statistics and is the current chair of the National Task Force on Electronic Data Interchange and the Technology Committee. He is also the New Hampshire Representative to the Northeast States Commission on Technology. Raymond has arranged numerous professional development activities, published a number of articles, and is very active in his church and his community. On behalf of all the members of NHSAA, we extend our congratulations to Raymond and express our appreciation for his outstanding service to the children of Rochester and the state of New Hampshire. |
