Parent and community volunteers are an integral part of helping the Rochester School District to best meet the needs of our students. Hundreds of volunteers contribute thousands of hours of service annually. We express our heartfelt thanks to the many parents, businesses, service organizations, UNH students, United Way volunteers, Air Force National Guard personnel, youth organizations and other community members who share the valuable gift of their time to benefit Rochester’s students.
Volunteer OpportunitiesShare the pure joy or a great book and start your day out right. Bring smiles of pleasure to elementary-aged students as they listen to a well-loved story while eating breakfast. Breakfast story time is a favorite among students (all fun and no tests!)
Lunch
Time/Story Time - Feed young minds while they are filling their bellies!
Remember the days of school cafeteria lunches? Help spice up lunchtime
by sharing the joy of a great book with a small group of elementary age students.
(Students with food in their mouths often make the best listeners!)
Drop
Everything and Read!
Join the excitement and help students and staff celebrate the joy
of reading. Volunteers can choose to listen to a child read, or read to an individual
student, to small groups or to a whole class.
School
Library Helper - Catalog books, reshelf books, read to students and more.
Love books? Love libraries? Help Rochester Schools to boost their
library services to students. Library helpers may assist students to select
books, read to students, catalog books, return books to shelves, input books
on computer databases, etc.
Are
you a Child at Heart?
Love jump rope, baseball or hopscotch? Was recess your favorite
subject in school? Relive your childhood days and come out and play! Lead elementary
age students in fun recess games.
Homework
coach - Help students improve their grades
Spelling tests, times tables, book reports and more. Assist elementary
students to complete their homework after school. Homework Clubs meet after
school from 3:00-4:00 1-2 times a week
Computer
Club Coaches
Love computer games? Coach students in computer use in after school
Computer Club. Help students play games, do homework and practice their computer
skills.
