Art Clubart pallet

Ms. Andrews (one of Spaulding’s four art teachers) established the art club in the fall of 2001 with approximately six students in attendance. It has grown as a group each semester.

As of October 2008 we have approximately 14 students that attend our weekly meetings.
The meetings are held at 7 AM on Tuesday mornings in Ms. Andrews’ room (Third floor A312) before school.

Meetings consist of creating artwork that students would not normally have a chance to make it art class, brainstorming for fundraisers, and creating elements for fundraisers. But mostly just having fun creating art.

One of the reasons the art club was created was to allow the students a formal time to meet before or after school and create artwork, in the art room accompanied by peers. Often students choose to elaborate on a style that they are either experimenting with, or comfortable with. The club also provides the environment to experiment with new, artistic ideas.

Fund raising generates finances for the Art Clubbers art materials (the art club is not financed through the art dept. budget) and a field trip to an art museum at the end of the school year. In resent years, the art club has traveled to the Portland Museum of Art.
