About the Art Department
Inside of Spaulding High School and tucked away on the third floor is a wonderful place.
The Art department comprised of four art rooms with four teachers and an occasional student teacher.
Within these rooms students create, manipulate and explore with not just their hands and a type of media, but their minds as well.

Art Department Mission Statement

To use a combination of skills, knowledge and ideas to increase a sense of self and self expression.

Goals:
  1. To develop an understanding of the elements of art and the principles of design.
  2. To increase the awareness of art history, aesthetics, culture and art appreciation.
  3. To develop basic art skills in drawing, painting, design, printmaking and three dimensional work.
  4. To develop an awareness of art in the environment and how art is interrelated with many other aspects of our
  5. environment.
  6. To build a foundation for continuing art practice.

Spaulding High Five

  1. Essential Knowledge Students will demonstrate that they have acquired essential knowledge and skills prescribed by the curriculum for each course they have taken. Emphasis will be placed on reading, writing, communication, computation, and reasoning.
  2. Problem Solving Students will effectively access, analyze, and apply information from a variety of existing formats, including technology, to problem-solve.
  3. Career and Educational Development Students will develop an awareness of their talents and options, and apply this knowledge in planning for their futures.
  4. Civic and Social Responsibility Students will develop and exhibit values that embrace community involvement and citizenship.
  5. Personal Wellness Students will learn to make choices resulting in mental, physical, and emotional well being.
