red starNEWS FROM THE STUDENT COUNCIL

The Student Council will be selling carnations the week of February 6 – February 10. The cost is $1.00 each. Your classroom teacher will collect the money. Carnations will be delivered by the Student Council members on Tuesday, February 14th. Thank you, Mrs. Harwood and Student Council.
pizzaFAMILY MOVIE NIGHT                                  

Please come and have pizza and a movie on Thursday, February 23, 2012. Pizza will be at 5:30 and the movie will start at 6:00 p.m. More info to come!

Any scheduled morning meeting or tutoring will be cancelled on delayed opening days.
Afternoon tutoring will be as scheduled.

Instruction for grades Kindergarten, one, two, three and four will begin at 10:30. Busses will start their runs two hours later and children should arrive at school two hours later than usual. Walkers and car people should arrive two hours later than usual. If school starts at 10:30, breakfast will not be served. Any scheduled morning meeting or tutoring will be cancelled on delayed opening days. Afternoon tutoring will be as scheduled.

A reminder for all parents in regards to the Honeywell Instant Alert which is a system that lets parents know more quickly and conveniently if there are schedule changes, buses running late, and emergencies that occur. Please sign up and/or review your information so that you do not miss a call. You can access how to log in and/or update information by logging on to www.rochesterschools.com and then clicking on Honeywell Instant Alert.

If you are employed by the Rochester School Department, please do not give the school telephone number
. If you have not done Honeywell Instant Alert Systems you may listen to the radio every day. We want your child to be safe. The announcement of no school or delayed openings for all schools will be given over local radio stations such as:
WTSN 1270 AM
WOKQ 97.5 FM
WHEB 100.3 FM
Channel 9 WMUR-TV

If there is a delayed opening please listen to your local radio station for more information. If the weather is too bad school will be cancelled.

100th day100th DAY

The 100th day of school will be on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 providing there are no snow days. Many classroom activities are planned. Children are asked to bring in 100 small items in a labeled bag to count on that day.

heartVALENTINE PARTIES

The Nancy Loud School classroom parties will be held on Tuesday, February 14th after lunch recess. Your child's teacher or classroom volunteer will contact you if they need help or goodies.
valentine boxVALENTINE BOXES

For Valentine’s Day, the children will need to bring in a decorated box, bag, or container to hold their Valentine cards.

The most important thing is that your children have fun at home decorating a box or bag for their Valentine’s party at school on Tuesday, February 14th. Your child may bring his or her decorated container any time on or before Tuesday, February 14th. Please make sure that your child clearly puts his/her first and last name on the decorated box or bag. Have fun!

reminderREMINDER – ABSENCES    

It is extremely important that your child be at school every day. School starts at 8:30 a.m. It is recognized that absences from school may be necessary under certain conditions. Student attendance at school is the responsibility of the parents and students.

mittensWINTER DRESS REMINDER               
Please make sure your child wears a winter jacket, snow pants, mittens, hats and boots these cold mornings. The children come in from recess with cold, wet feet. Could you please make sure your child has a pair of shoes or sneakers to wear in the classroom so that he or she will be comfortable. Don’t forget that Tuesdays are Physical Education Days.

hot lunchHOT LUNCH

We are encouraging the Nancy Loud School children to eat hot lunch to get a nutritious meal. Hot lunch costs $2.05. Recess milk and cold lunch milk costs $.50.
Reminder: Parents are able to pay for lunch and/or milk by cash or check made out to Rochester School Lunch Program. Also parents are able to pay for one week or longer. Parents who want to join their child for lunch are always welcome but please call ahead to let the cook know.
