Open House: On Wed. Feb. 1, from 6:00 – 8:30 pm, Spaulding High School will be holding its winter open house and future freshman forum. All current SHS students and their families, all incoming 8th grade students and their families, and members of the Rochester and Wakefield communities with an interest in learning more about Spaulding High School are all welcome.
House and Home Décor: Ms. Bernier is looking for any donations of house/home related magazines that would be used in her House and Home Decor class. Donations can be dropped off in room H270 or can be left in her mailbox in the main office.
Sign Language Club: The Sign Language Club will begin on Mon. Jan. 30. Meetings will be held in room 101 from 2:15-3:15 every Monday.
SESL Sponsored Valentine’s Dance Benefit: A Valentine's dance sponsored by SESL will be held at the American Legion on Fri. Feb. 3 from 6-10pm with all proceeds being given to the Cocheco Valley Humane Society. This is not a school dance and you don't have to be an SHS student to attend. Ages are 20 and under. Tickets are being sold in the cafe and are one for $10 or two for $15. Refreshments will be served as part of the ticket price.
Outing Club: The outing club will be traveling to Moose Mountain to go snow tubing on Thurs. Feb. 16 and indoor rock climbing Thurs. March 21. Stop by and get your permission slip from Mr. Ackerman or Mr. Robbins right away if you want to go.
Yearbooks: Yearbooks are still on sale. The cost is $65. See Ms. Kelly in room 223 to place your order.
Attention Seniors :Due to an outstanding response the senior long sleeve t-shirt is back on sale. The cost is $20. Orders can be placed with Mrs. Ackerman in room 311. The deadline to order is Fri. Feb. 17.
Local Scholarships: Thanks to the generosity of corporations, organizations and individuals in the Rochester area many college scholarships are awarded to Spaulding High School graduates. Seniors who are considering post-secondary education for the 2012-2013 school year are eligible to apply for these scholarships. About one hundred scholarships varying in amounts from $50 to as much as $5, 000 are available to be awarded this year. All interested seniors are encouraged to apply for these scholarships. Stop by the main office for an application. The deadline to apply is Fri. Feb. 17.
Attention Juniors: The 13th annual Destination College Event will be held on Sat. March 24 at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester. This event is free of charge for college bound juniors and their parents. It will include a college fair, workshops and a scholarship raffle. Space is limited and will be filled quickly. TAPS: Teens as Parents will meet Thurs. Feb. 2 at 8:30 in the tech center conference room. All pregnant and parenting teens are welcome.

YOU MATTER a group for students who have been negatively impacted by somebody else’s substance use will meet on Wed. Feb. 1 at 10:00. See Ms. Bandera or Ms. Dale for location.
SASS: Hey Ladies, join Megan from SASS in a group just for young women. We will talk about dating, healthy relationships and staying drama- free! The first group will be Tues. Feb. 7.
GAPS: Has someone important in your life passed away? Are you having trouble knowing how to deal with all of the difficult feelings? Join GAPS, a grieving assistance program. Here you will get support from other students who understand what you are going through.
NOT: Have you made any resolutions this year? Does one of them include trying to quit smoking? If so, join NOT-Not on Tobacco. Learn ways to kick the habit and get support from other students in the same boat.

Do you have free time after school? Do you have special skills or hobbies that you would like to share with others? If so, the Rochester Child Care Center’s UP program is looking for volunteers to work at McClelland, East Rochester, Gonic and William Allen Elementary schools between the hours of 3-6pm. Key Club meets on most Tuesdays after school in room 211. We are a community service club that is always looking for new members. Stop by and check us out or see Mrs. Westfall in room 211 if you are interested but cannot attend the meeting.
Available school wide is the weight room after school from 2:15-3pm Monday-Thursday. All athletes are strongly encouraged to attend especially golfers, potential hockey players and potential baseball players!
The Guitar Club meets on Thursdays at 2:30 in room V125. The club is open to anyone that is interested in learning guitar or bass or just wants to hang around and jam for awhile.
Do you want to show your Spaulding pride but don’t have anything to wear? Well stop by the Raider Shack located in the tech. We have everything from tees and sweatpants to long sleeve tees. Nothing is overpriced. The Raider Shack is open during all lunches on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
