Many people think of service to our country as being military. And that is a great direction for many students. However, there are many forms of non-combat service for students to consider. Take your pick:

            • The Armed Services Branches

ARMED SERVICES

AFJROTC

As a Spaulding High School student, you are very fortunate to be able to join the Aerospace Science Department. Most high schools do not have this opportunity. These classes are the perfect opportunity for you to:

      • Gain knowledge of the US military branches and structure
      • Learn about the US Air Force in particular
      • Earn an increased pay ($$$) grade upon entering any military branch (Yes!!!)
      • Learn about flight science, aviation, and outer space
      • Learn self-discipline and leadership skills (Whether or not you decide to go into a military career, these skills will help.)

The ASVAB

All branches of the military require that you take the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery). This tests for your ability and career interests, so that a recruiter can direct you to the military career that is best for you. It is a dynamite career test for any student, even those who do not intend to go into the military

The ASVAB can be taken through any military recruiter. It is also given by our ROTC instructors once each semester.And the ASVAB is absolutely FREE!

The Academies
The United States Military Academies combine elite college education, leadership and military training. To prepare for entrance into an academy, you will have to take get good grades in top college preparatory and honors classes at SHS and you will have to take the SAT test. (See the SAT information under “College”.)
