- Choose a book to read
- Get a small notebook to use for journal entries and/or notes
- Set up a reading schedule and time line
- Read the book and take notes on the book
- Review the book, think
about what questions you might
be asked, and add information to your notes
- Place notes in a safe place, and bring notes to school on the day of the assessment
Reading Literature Competency: Students will demonstrate the ability to comprehend, critique, and analyze a variety of increasingly complex literary texts.
R-PI 1: Cite thorough evidence to support analysis of text and authorís choices, determine multiple themes and their development throughout the course of a text, and analyze how elements of the story interact.
R-PI 3: Analyze multiple interpretations of a literary work, demonstrate a broad knowledge of grade level appropriate literature, and reference/incorporate texts read from previous years.
If you have any questions, or need any help with the reading of your novel, please feel free to seek assistance during Summer School, which runs from July 8th through 26th from 7:30-11:30 every day.
In addition to this, the Summer Reading Website will provide you with further aid in your reading and comprehension of the novel.
