GRAPHIC DESIGN
CRS# 07246 - Grade 9-12 - CR 1/2 - Quarter - 1 block
Students will explore the many different aspects and career opportunities
of graphic design. Graphic design is the communication tool artists
use to illustrate, advertise, and promote products in the industrial
world. Students will be encouraged to use their creative talents and
computer skills to produce such works of art as: developing logos,
illustrating and promoting a company they choose, maga-zine layouts,
and other visual stimulating projects. Students will be supplied with
the latest, state of the art technology and software including QuarkXpress
and Adobe Photoshop to aid in their design. Note:
This course will fulfill the State of New Hampshire graduation requirement
for 1/2 credit in fine arts. |
GRAPHIC TRADES/PRINTING 1
CRS 14521 Grade 11 CR 2 Y blocks/year Graphic Arts is a multifaceted
industry, with a wide range of career opportunities that employs men
and women. Job titles include designers, paste-up artists, page-layout
artist, camera operators, pre-press technicians, computer operators,
plate makers, press operators, bindery work-ers, computer programmers,
chemists, and estimators. This hands-on course acquaints students
with the latest cutting edge technology, digital color imaging and
conven-tional offset printing. The digital and offset forms of print-ing
are taught, and include computer layout, computer design, paste-up,
camera work, stripping, plate making, press set-up and operations.
Students design and print business cards, invitations, letterheads,
CD covers, posters and various other items. Note: This course will
fulfill the State of New Hampshire graduation requirement for 1/2
credit in fine arts. Note: This is a Running Start
Course and students can receive college credit |
GRAPHICS COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY
CRS# 07253 -Grades - 9-12 - CR 1 - Semester - 1 block
Students will explore the ever important world of communication
through the following associated areas: graphic design and layout,
screen process printing, black and white photography, air brush
art technology, offset print-ing, and electronic desktop publishing
which includes dig-ital photography and scanner technology. All
activities are focused on developing creative thinking and problem
solv-ing skills. Students’ designs will be a major emphasis
in all activities. The development of a student portfolio is stressed.
Career opportunities in the fields of graphic design, commercial
art, printing, computer graphics and other related fields will be
explored. Safety concerns related to operating equipment and handling
chemicals is emphasized.
Note:
This course will fulfill the State of New Hampshire graduation requirement
for 1/2 credit in fine arts. |
