Traffic Map for WAS

Hello WAS Families,

Our local construction work for the fall impacts our pick-up and drop-off patterns.  The campus will be very congested at the start and end of the day.  In an effort to help alleviate as much traffic burden on Granite St. and Charles St., the following plan will be in place from the start of school until further notice.   Please look at the attached map and make a note of any adjustments necessary for your family's needs.

Woodman Street and DaveyannLocke Lane are closed to through traffic.  Only residents of those streets can use the roads.

The fastest and most convenient way to get your child to and from school will be riding the bus.

For those who walk, the current crosswalks will not be impacted.

There is no parking on Granite Street.

The right-hand side of Granite Street is one-way for student drop-off in the AM and pick-up in the PM.

The left-hand side of Granite Street is one way for bus students to arrive and depart from the campus.

For those who choose to drive either to or from school, there are two designated parking lots less than two blocks from the school.  By using the lots at the corner of Portland and Charles and the lot behind South Main Steet and Liberty Street, you will avoid all the vehicular traffic and be able to get your child to and from campus faster than using the car loop.

If you choose to use the loop, there will be little leeway for traffic congestion so all those who use the loop must follow these specific rules.

1) Pull up as far as the designated staff member is asking you to advance, even if it is beyond the doors directly in front of the school.

2) Students may only exit and enter your car from the passenger side set of doors. No students can get in/out on the driver's side.

3) Drivers cannot exit the car to assist. The lane must move safely and quickly.

4) Cars must have signage that shares who they are picking up in the afternoon.  The school will provide an easy Google Form to fill out that will help you with this process.

We hope you find this information helpful. Please contact the school if we can be of further assistance.

Sincerely,

Mr. Gray, Principal
