learning

Personalized Learning is an integral part of what we do at McClelland and all of the Rochester School District.  It's important that families understand what Personalized Learning is and how it is incorporated into our daily routines.

What is Personalized Learning?

The core four consists of the four components of PL; targeted instruction, data driven decisions, flexible content and tools and student reflection and ownership.

While personalized learning will look different in all classrooms and vary throughout the day, some things you could see as evidence of PL would be small group instruction with a teacher,  students graphing their progress on learning goals, use of digital content such as AMPLIFY or IXL or students identifying their current zone in the zones of regulation.

Learning Walks are a great way for staff to celebrate personalized learning by visiting other classrooms.  Each month staff have the opportunity to walk through each other's classrooms and sometimes we have guests from around the district visit and join in the celebration.  If your student shares there were extra adults in the classroom to "watch and learn" they are likely talking about learning walks.

Here are some pictures from our last learning walk!
