Objective:

Summer Reading is essential to avoid Summer Slide and keep students educationally active and increase preparedness for their grade level. RMS is sending the message that students must be prepared for their classes before entering in the Fall. Students will be required to actively use IXL, ALEKS and Read Independently for 20 minutes per night for their Reading Edge class. 

Optional Assignment:

Students will choose materials which appeal to them and actively read a minimum of 1 book. They will record their books on either a google form, or can print a form and turn it in in September.

Prizes:

20 RMS students who have filled out the form, and/or turned in a paper copy book log, will be chosen at random in September 2022 for a winning prize (TBD).

Every book gets another chance to win a prize.

Minutiae

  1. To fill out the Google Form Book Log, Students must sign in with their school GMail.

  2. All sections of the Book Log must be completed to count. 

  3. Students may choose their books, since choice increases effectiveness. 

  4. Principal will use Social Media over the summer to remind parents of the Summer Reading Challenge.

  5. In September, ELA teachers will collect paper reading logs and then give them to Mrs. Evans
