Student in front of Art samples

The Children’s Room, at the Rochester Public Library, is once again collaborating with Rochester Elementary Schools to highlight student art on a rotating basis.

According to children’s librarian Christina Pauquette, previous student art exhibits were well received by the community so she decided to make it an annual tradition.

“This year, the art will rotate each month over a four-month period,” said Paquette. “Each of the art teachers will be displaying a diverse sampling of work from each of the schools they represent.”

The first showing will be provided by Marcey Buchakijin and the students of McClelland and Nancy Loud Schools.

Paquette reports that the student artists enjoyed the “full art show experience” during the opening reception. The PTA for McClelland School supplied light refreshments for the guests. More than 100 friends and family visited the Children’s Room while students had the opportunity to show off their work.

The exhibition is currently on display in the Children’s Room, at the Rochester Public Library, 65 South Main Street. The public is encouraged to visit.
