2023-2024

Greetings from Spaulding High School!

We hope this letter finds you well and excited for the upcoming school year! As we prepare to kick off a new academic journey, we want to extend a warm welcome to you and your student to Spaulding.  We understand that the high school years are a pivotal time in your child’s life.  We are committed to providing a supportive and enriching environment that fosters growth, learning, and success.

Grade 9 students start on Wednesday, August 30 and all grades report on Thursday, August 31.  School starts at 7:30 and our doors open at 7:05.  School ends at 2:14.  Most questions can be answered on our website, www.rochesterschools.com/o/shs.  Please take a look for bell schedules, clubs and activities, and other helpful information.  Many forms will be sent home with students on the first day, but we will also have them included on our website as well.

Here are a few key points as we start the school year:

TRAFFIC FLOW: We ask that you follow our traffic patterns to ensure a safe and orderly drop off and pick up of our students.  Parents may pick up and drop off in the front of our school entering from Wakefield Street only.  Please do not drop off and pick up behind our school.

FREE/REDUCED LUNCH: Families that qualify for free or reduced-price meals must once again apply for the benefit. By completing this form you are helping our city as the state’s adequacy calculation includes an additional rate for all students that qualify for free or reduced meals. Additionally, students may qualify for waived fees for some school programs, tests, and college applications.  The Rochester School Department has launched an online meal application to help families complete this very important application. This online meal application is available here or by visiting the “Food Service” webpage on our district’s website.

SUPPORT SERVICES: Our six school counselors are here to provide academic, social, and emotional support to your child throughout the high school journey. We also have a social worker and a Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor on our faculty.  Please reach out if you have any concerns or questions about your child's well-being.

COMMUNICATION: Open and clear communication between school and home is vital. We encourage you to stay connected with us through regular updates on assignments, events, and your child's progress. Our school website and social media platforms are valuable resources for maintaining this connection.  Please add us on Facebook (SpauldingHS) and Twitter (@SpauldingHS) and bookmark our website.  We often publish information and highlight accomplishments.  We will also be publishing a monthly newsletter with information and highlights.

OPEN HOUSE: Mark your calendars! Our fall Open House will be Wednesday, September 20 from 6:00-7:30.  We will run an abbreviated schedule so you can attend each block.

PICTURE DAY: School pictures will be taken on Wednesday, September 6.  The order form is here as well as on our website.

We look forward to another great year! Please call the main office at 332-0757 if you have any questions.  See you soon!

Mr. Roy
